## Why Quality Joinery Is Worth Every Penny

Good joinery shapes the spaces we use every day, from kitchens and staircases to timber windows and doors. But with materials, prices and workmanship varying, how do you know who to trust, what you’re paying for and whether the finished work will last?In Episode 5 of The Healthy

Why this show exists

## Most bad building work is sold to people who had no way of knowing.

Homeowners are asked to make expensive, irreversible decisions about their houses using language nobody ever explained to them. This podcast is an attempt to close that gap — by putting the people who genuinely understand these buildings in front of a microphone and asking them to speak plainly.

### Plain English, not jargon

Damp, ventilation, breathability, U-values — the language of building science locks ordinary homeowners out of decisions about their own homes. Every episode is an attempt to translate it without dumbing it down.

### People who actually do the work

Guests are surveyors, specialist contractors, masons, architects and manufacturers who spend their days on real buildings. Experience on site counts for more here than a job title.

### Honest about what is not known

Building health is full of contested ground and bad advice sold with total confidence. Where the evidence is thin or the trade disagrees, the conversation says so rather than papering over it.

### Useful before it is promotional

Weather Wise Solutions hosts the show and Remmers sponsors it, but neither buys a say in what a guest concludes. If an episode is only useful as an advert, it has failed.

### Why Does the Damp Industry Have Such a Bad Reputation?

A damp patch can look straightforward, but the wrong diagnosis can turn a simple maintenance issue into thousands of pounds of unnecessary work. Rising damp is often blamed first, chemical DPCs are prescribed by default, and moisture-meter readings are treated as proof, even when

Questions

## About the podcast

### What is The Healthy House Podcast about?

The Healthy House Podcast is a UK podcast about property, construction and healthy homes. Each episode is a long-form conversation with a specialist — a surveyor, mason, contractor, architect or manufacturer — about a subject homeowners are routinely given bad advice on, such as damp, mould, condensation, ventilation, repointing or renovating an older building.

### Who hosts The Healthy House Podcast?

The show is hosted by Aaron Worrall, a director of Weather Wise Solutions, a damp, mould and condensation specialist based in Staffordshire. It is sponsored by Remmers Group and produced by Crawford & Beattie.

### Where can I listen to The Healthy House Podcast?

Episodes are available on Spotify and on YouTube, where the show is published in full video. Apple Podcasts and other networks are planned. You can also play every episode directly from the episode pages on this site.

### Is the podcast only useful if I work in construction?

No. The show is made for ordinary homeowners first. Guests are asked to explain things in plain English, and every episode page carries a written summary and key takeaways so you can get the answer without listening to 90 minutes if you do not want to.

### Does the sponsor decide what guests say?

No. Remmers Group sponsors the show and Weather Wise Solutions hosts it, but neither has editorial control over a guest’s conclusions. Where guests disagree with common industry practice, that disagreement stays in.

### How can I suggest a guest or appear on the show?

Pitches are welcome from people who work in property, construction, architecture, housing, design, sustainability and building health. Email info@thehealthyhousepodcast.co.uk or send a message through any of the show’s social channels.
