# Know something homeowners need to hear?

The Healthy House Podcast is always looking for guests across property, construction, architecture, housing, design, sustainability and building health. If you spend your working life understanding buildings, there’s a good chance you have something worth putting in front of an audience.

What we look for

## Expertise, not a media profile

The show is built on people who genuinely know their subject, chosen for what they know rather than how well they market themselves.

### Real, hands-on expertise

You should be able to speak from experience on real buildings — what actually happens on site, not just the theory of it.

### A clear point of view

Guests who are willing to say what they actually think, including where it cuts against common industry practice, make for the best conversations.

### Plain English

You don’t need to dumb anything down, but you should be able to explain it to a homeowner who has never heard the jargon before.

### Something specific to say

A defined subject — one you could talk about for an hour without running out of anything useful to say — pitches better than a general offer to “talk about the industry”.

## Who tends to be a good fit

Guests so far have included surveyors, masons, specialist contractors, architects and manufacturers — but the show isn’t limited to any one trade. If your work touches property, construction, architecture, housing, design, sustainability or building health, and you can speak to it in detail, you’re in scope.

That includes landlords and housing providers navigating Awaab’s Law, engineers, academics, product manufacturers, planners and anyone else with a real, specific answer to a question homeowners are asking.

What taking part involves

## A proper conversation, filmed

### Long-form and unscripted

Episodes are filmed conversations, not interviews built around soundbites. Expect to talk properly about your subject rather than deliver a pitch.

### Remote or in person

Filming can happen either way, depending on what works for you and the subject. We’ll agree the details when we schedule.

### Published on video and audio

Episodes go out in full video on YouTube and as audio on Spotify, alongside a written summary on this site.

### No script, no rehearsal

You’ll know the subject beforehand, but there’s nothing to memorise. We’re after how you actually think about a problem, not a performance.

What makes a good pitch

## Tell us what you’d actually talk about

- Who you are and what you do, in a couple of sentences.
- One or two specific subjects you could speak to in depth — the more specific, the better a fit for a long-form conversation.
- Anything that shows the depth of your experience — years on site, a notable project, a qualification, a body of work.
- Whether you’d prefer to record remotely or in person.

Questions

## Guest pitches

### What does the show look for in a guest?

Depth over polish. We want people who genuinely understand their subject because they work on real buildings — a surveyor who has seen a hundred versions of the same damp problem, a mason who can explain why a repair failed, a manufacturer’s technical lead who knows exactly why a product works or doesn’t.

### What kind of background makes a good fit?

Property, construction, architecture, housing, design, sustainability and building health, broadly defined. That covers surveyors, contractors, tradespeople, architects, engineers, landlords, housing professionals, academics and manufacturers — national names and the best specialist in one particular trade are equally welcome.

### Do I need broadcast experience?

No. Most guests have never been on a podcast before. What matters is that you can talk plainly about what you actually know — the conversation is built around your expertise, not your presenting skill.

### Is the conversation scripted?

No. Episodes are long-form and unscripted. You’ll know the subject in advance and roughly where the conversation is headed, but there’s no script to rehearse and no approved talking points to stick to.

### Can I take part remotely, or does it have to be in person?

Both are possible. Filming can happen in person or remotely, depending on what suits you and the subject — we’ll agree the format when we schedule.

### Do you pay guests to appear?

We don’t advertise a standard fee. If that matters to you, raise it in your pitch and we’ll discuss it directly rather than leave it unclear.
